Hub-Extension Model and Access to Pediatric Behavioral Integrated Primary Care (NM)

Description
Best practices indicate integrated BHPC services should be provided on-site for increased access to care. For some agencies, the patient population may be too low to justify having a full-time behavioral health provider on-site. Utilizing a hub-extension structure addresses this problem. The results of this study suggest that a hub-extension structure promotes similarly strong collaborative relationships between referring medical providers and agency-contracted behavioral health providers whether they are located on-site or off-site.
